Tasha knew it was reckless, dangerous and stupid, but she marched down to Fury's office after he talk with Steve and layed it on the line. Not all of it of course, but the Director wasn't blind with that one eye of his. He could tell Agent Romanoff was taking far more than simply a professional interest in Steve Rogers. Wisely, he didn't call her on it.
After hours, she finally had the clearance, the team of lower level agents to help them, the files on how Erskine had done it and a hell of a lot of motivation to get the man she...whatever it was she was feeling for Steve, back to being the first Avenger.
Now all she had to do was convince Steve he could stop hiding and come with. You can't make Captain America if you don't have the key ingredient.

The Scientist takes the opportunity to slam his hand against an alarm, sending sirens and red light calling the Red Room goons that much quicker.
"Steve." OK, this is not how she wanted this to go. "Steve. Wake up, c'mon. We need to go." She struggles to try and get out from under him.

Yeah, she totally let that 'baby' slip out without realizing it. Nothing like adding awkward to a life and death situation, is there?

"Get your shield...um..."
Oh, my God. Why did she just say that?
"Steve."

"Right on schedule." She mutters as she starts firing.

She royally screwed the Red Room over before she defected to America. It's perhaps legendary in some circles. They want her dead. Hell, there's probably a nice fat stack of rubles for whoever takes her down.

Her arm is bleeding enough to soak through her glove and pour over her fingers. It burns so much but she doesn't stop falling back. "STEVE! COME ON!"

She wants the Red Room wiped out. Permanently.
But it seems she'll have to deal with that another time.
"Plane." She gasps as they get outside, pulling her hand away from her arm just long enough to let more blood seep it's way out. "We need to get to the plane."

Or she'll remember it as the one of times someone showed her they really truly cared about her on a level she never thought anyone could. Coulson had done it, hell even Barton's made a grand gesture or two but this is different.
He hardly knows her compared to the way Phil did and Clint does, and yet Steve walked into her own private definition of hell, and even after she seemed to sell him out he's....saving her.
That blows her mind.

Natasha knows Steve's in his element now. Protector, fighter, hero. She should just let him do his thing and not worry.
But she can't. Part of her wonders what is so special about a chemical that it can turn Steve Rogers from the fearful little guy he was at the start of this mess, into the man holding her and shielding her from bullets now?
Are they even really the same person?
She doesn't want to think about it.

"How are you?" She can't move her damaged arm or the one holding the wound, so she leans her forehead against his. "Everything how it should be?"
