Tasha knew it was reckless, dangerous and stupid, but she marched down to Fury's office after he talk with Steve and layed it on the line. Not all of it of course, but the Director wasn't blind with that one eye of his. He could tell Agent Romanoff was taking far more than simply a professional interest in Steve Rogers. Wisely, he didn't call her on it.

After hours, she finally had the clearance, the team of lower level agents to help them, the files on how Erskine had done it and a hell of a lot of motivation to get the man she...whatever it was she was feeling for Steve, back to being the first Avenger.

Now all she had to do was convince Steve he could stop hiding and come with. You can't make Captain America if you don't have the key ingredient.

She keeps behind him, a powerful desire to just blow this whole damned building to a pile of rubble very strong. Natasha had mentioned the red in her ledger she wants to wipe away. Most assume she means the trails of bodies The Black Widow left in her specific skill set wake, but that isn't all it is.

She wants the Red Room wiped out. Permanently.

But it seems she'll have to deal with that another time.

"Plane." She gasps as they get outside, pulling her hand away from her arm just long enough to let more blood seep it's way out. "We need to get to the plane."

Steve glanced at her, swallowing as he saw the blood. He knew she wasn't going to like it, but Steve didn't want to risk her life, so he moved and picked her up in his arms before running as fast as he could to the plane.

Right now, she doesn't care. This entire experience has been so hard on both of them Natasha doesn't have the energy to protest the white knight act. She'll give him hell for it later.

Or she'll remember it as the one of times someone showed her they really truly cared about her on a level she never thought anyone could. Coulson had done it, hell even Barton's made a grand gesture or two but this is different.

He hardly knows her compared to the way Phil did and Clint does, and yet Steve walked into her own private definition of hell, and even after she seemed to sell him out he's....saving her.

That blows her mind.

Steve continued to run, stray bullets grazing his leg but he didn't let it faze him.

When they're close enough to the plane for her wiggle free, she tries to. She hasn't noticed he's been injured yet.

"Not till we get on the plane..."

"But..." She protests weakly, noticing her blood's getting on his uniform from the way he's holding her.

Natasha knows Steve's in his element now. Protector, fighter, hero. She should just let him do his thing and not worry.

But she can't. Part of her wonders what is so special about a chemical that it can turn Steve Rogers from the fearful little guy he was at the start of this mess, into the man holding her and shielding her from bullets now?

Are they even really the same person?

She doesn't want to think about it.

When it concerned her and her safety, Steve would go up against anything to make sure she was alright. Once they were on the plane, he put her gently down in a seat, shutting the door tight before kneeling infront of her. "How bad is it?"

Tasha shakes her head, keeping her arm clamped over the wound. It's only bleeding so much because of adrenaline. "I'm fine." She nods, finally having a moment to look him over. He's the ways he was when she first met him, physically, but those fears of the core traits that made him the perfect super solider candidate being lost somehow if the serum is gone are still nagging her.

"How are you?" She can't move her damaged arm or the one holding the wound, so she leans her forehead against his. "Everything how it should be?"

"As far as I can tell." Steve replied, closing his eyes as he rested his head against hers. Unsure of whether everything was how it should be.

It's not, she's sure of it, but he's here, and she's here and that's what matters in the end. Natasha lifts her chin, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "Welcome back, Cap. I missed you."

Steve smiled, opening his eyes to look into hers.

"Glad to be back."
